Excavating  in Innisfail

wet hire machinery

At Far North Plumbing, our extensive fleet of excavation equipment is available for wet hire, providing reliable machinery for projects across the Cassowary Coast region.

Whether you’re resolving drainage issues or digging new trenches, we’ve got the right equipment and experienced operators to get the job done efficiently.

Keep your project moving with dependable equipment and skilled operators you can trust.

Backhoe Loader

Our backhoe loader is built to perform across all ground conditions—from concrete surfaces to rough, muddy terrain. Powered by a robust diesel engine and fitted with heavy-duty tyres, it delivers the strength, stability, and traction needed for demanding worksites.

Ideal for construction, excavation, and site preparation, this machine is available for wet hire with experienced, licensed operators to keep your project moving safely and on schedule.

The front-mounted loader allows our operators to lift, carry, and move large volumes of loose material, assist with site clean-ups, level and smooth surfaces, and push material efficiently during earthworks.

The rear backhoe is the primary excavation tool, used for digging through dense ground and lifting heavy items such as sewer boxes. It enables precise lifting and relocation of heavy loads without the need to reposition the machine—saving time and improving efficiency on site.

Mini Excavators and Skid Steer Loader

We offer both 3-tonne and 1.8-tonne mini excavators for wet hire. These compact, diesel-powered machines are designed for tight-access excavation on small to medium projects, making them ideal for backyards, narrow driveways, and confined areas where larger equipment can’t operate.

Equipped with a front dozer blade, our mini excavators are equally effective for levelling and backfilling. The boom swing feature allows precise work right up against walls and fences, making them perfect for boundary and restricted-space jobs.

Our skid steer loader (bobcat) is a powerful, diesel-powered four-wheel-drive machine suited to earthmoving, landscaping, and site clean-ups. Fitted with a trencher attachment, it can cut through tough and rocky ground with high accuracy—ideal for trenching close to existing structures while minimising the risk of damage.

Regardless of soil type or ground conditions, our licensed operators can efficiently excavate trenches for water lines, drainage, and irrigation systems, keeping your project moving safely and on schedule.

Tipper Truck and Lighting Towers

Move large volumes of earth quickly and efficiently with our 8-tonne tipper truck. Every hire includes a licensed operator, so you can rely on safe, professional operation and keep your project running smoothly.

We also supply high-performance lighting towers to ensure safe and efficient work in low-light conditions. Unlike our excavation equipment, lighting towers are available for dry hire, giving you added flexibility on site.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between wet and dry hire?

The difference lies in whether the hire includes a licensed operator. With wet hire, the equipment you hire includes an operator. On the other hand, dry hire means you only hire the equipment, and you’ll have to look for somebody to operate it.

  • How deep can a mini excavator dig?

Depending on the size, a mini excavator can dig holes 10 to 14 feet deep. A 1,800 to 2,700-kilo mini can dig up to 10 feet while a 4,500 to 5,400-kilo excavator can go down to 14 feet.

  • Which is better: A backhoe loader or a mini excavator?

Because of their 3-in-1 nature, backhoe loaders are usually preferred over a mini excavator. However, the latter is a better choice when working in relatively tighter spaces and if a 360-degree rotation is needed.
